1.32 explain, using dot and cross diagrams, the formation of ionic compounds by electron transfer, limited to combinations of elements from Groups 1, 2, 3, and 5, 6, 7



You need to show the atoms before bonding, along with arrows showing how the electrons will move. Then you need to show the ions after bonding, along with the resulting charges. Use dots and crosses (red and blue dots below) to distinguish electrons from the two different elements. Practise laying these out as in the example below for various pairs of elements.
